Poetry: gratifying responses to Accidental Joy

***Anyone who has served on a volunteer board of directors knows that stress comes along with reward. It has been so this year as I served with the Austin Poetry Society officers as an at-large member. But I have made wonderful new friends, much appreciated–especially since my 20-year fiction group is gradually fading away…moving away.

One APS member encouraged me to enter Accidental Joy in a book contest, another fan of the volume wanted to buy two more copies to give to friends, and a third APS member went to the trouble to write a full review after reading the 101 single-page, free verse poems. He closes with:

“Your poems have universal appeal.  I get bored with female specific poetry which either lectures males or treats them as antagonists or leaves them out.  Yours transcends being female to being human.  A sure sign of great poetry.
Thank you, Ben Pehr, for the time you took to write out fully your appreciation of my book!
